Provider: Rayda Rosado Medina, MD-DABFM

What is your patient care philosophy?

I truly believe that every single patient deserves the best care possible guided with principles of empathy and compassion.

What would you like people to know about you as a physician/provider?

Since I was 14-15 years old, I was determined to be a physician, primarily because of my desire of help others. I got this strong base of “helping” from both of my grandmothers but specially my paternal one. She took care of me from 3 months to 12 years old only while my mother was at work. She used to visit sick patients in the community and for free she would clean the patient, clean the house, change diapers for bedridden patients and cook for them. Therefore, early in life I can say: “I started to serve” and I learned from her.

How does your work improve lives?

I never thought before about this, until a mentor mentioned it and I agreed: My work helps others because I provide care being conscious about humanity and a patient’s needs. As a physician, you do your best to care and cure patients, therefore I can think about myself as a “healer”, in a respectful and humble way. This principle helps guide my service and my humbleness in life, and also in my career.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I love to sew, but I only do it for myself when there is available time, and I love to bake. When I am in the kitchen, I love to be alone because cooking/baking is like a therapy.
