Provider: Mona McDowell, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

What is your patient care philosophy

I always treat my patients as I would treat my family or expect my family to be treated. My mom can be hard to work with medically, therefor I have learned how to approach difficult patients with a gentle, but firm hand. My main goal is to make sure my patients are satisfied with their care, which includes involving them in their treatment choices as much as possible.

How does your work improve lives?

When I treat my patients with respect & dignity, it t helps them to relate to their medical conditions easier. I feel being honest with them, even if they don’t want to hear it, is the best policy. By doing so you build trust with your patients. With trust comes compliance. With compliance comes better health outcomes. My career is fulfilling because I get to educate, empathize, and treat all patients with the treatment provided through guidelines which improves their health.

What else would you like to share about yourself?
