Provider: Mickelyn Houghton MSN, APRN, CNM

As a midwife, my goal is to touch lives, and I am so grateful for the privilege of being invited to care for my patients during the important moments in their lives.

What is your patient care philosophy?

My patient care philosophy is that I am in a unique position to provide holistic, evidence-based, individualized, and compassionate care, and I strive to serve my patients in this manner during every encounter.

How does your work improve lives?

I view my patients as people, not merely their diagnosis. In addition to having their health concerns addressed, I want my patients to leave their appointments feeling respected, heard, well-educated, and involved in their own care.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I was born and raised in Lakeland and married my high school sweetheart. We have 3 children, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 14 chickens. I started my nursing career with the goal of becoming a nurse midwife, but I spent my bedside nursing years in the intensive care unit.  In my free time I can be found reading a good book or riding roller coasters.
