Provider: Lakendra Geffrard, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

What is your patient care philosophy?

I provide whole‑person psychiatric care grounded in each individual’s unique story, values, and needs. With empathy, respect, and evidence‑based practice, I build collaborative relationships that empower people toward resilience and lasting well‑being.

What would you like people to know about you as a physician/provider?

Growing up in an underserved community shaped my commitment as a PMHNP to challenge stigma, expand access, and advocate for equitable, culturally informed mental healthcare. My lived experience drives me to provide support, education, and health literacy to those too often overlooked, and I’m honored to stand with patients who show tremendous courage in seeking help.

How does your work improve lives?

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) I help patients break through barriers and overcome challenges that stand in the way of their mental health and wellness. Through compassionate partnership, practical guidance, and steady encouragement, I support individuals as they build confidence, discover hope, and realize their full potential.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I bring a unique perspective to my work, shaped by years of caring for patients on a Native American Reservation and gaining a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and healthcare needs. Before nursing, I was a Division I track and field athlete and competitive weightlifter, setting multiple school records in discus, shot put, and hammer. Although I once pursued athletics at a high level, I ultimately found my purpose in nursing, where I’m driven to serve others and make a meaningful impact.
