Provider: Mickelyn Houghton MSN, APRN, CNM

What is your patient care philosophy?

My patient care philosophy is that I am in a unique position to provide holistic, evidence-based, individualized, and compassionate care, and I strive to serve my patients in this manner during every encounter. As a midwife, my goal is to touch lives, and I am so grateful for the privilege of being invited to care for my patients during the important moments in their lives.

How does your work improve lives?

I view my patients as people, not merely their diagnosis. In addition to having their health concerns addressed, I want my patients to leave their appointments feeling respected, heard, well-educated, and involved in their own care.

What are some interesting facts about you?

I was born and raised in Lakeland and married my high school sweetheart. We have 3 children, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 14 chickens. I started my nursing career with the goal of becoming a nurse midwife, but I spent my bedside nursing years in the intensive care unit.  In my free time I can be found reading a good book or riding roller coasters.
