¿Cuál es su filosofía de atención al paciente?

I believe that no one knows the patient better than they do. I want to learn as much from my patient as they do from me. To truly care for the whole person in a compassionate, trauma-informed manner, you really have to get to know them. Building trust involves active listening, informed consent in all things, and respecting my patient’s wishes, even when they differ from mine. Building relationships with patients drives better outcomes. I believe that we are all given gifts and talents to be used to help others. We find the most satisfaction when we are using those abilities for their intended purpose!

¿Cómo su trabajo mejora vidas?

I’ve seen thousands of patients over the years, and delivered hundreds of babies, but it’s the relationships I’ve built with these families that have impacted their lives. When a patient knows that I believe in them, and believe what they’re saying, they feel empowered to seek the help they need.

¿Cuáles son algunos datos interesantes sobre ti?

I spent 25 years in the Navy, treating patients in over 30 countries.  My wife April and I have been married since 2000, and have 7 biological children, one adopted daughter, and 2 grandchildren. I’m also board-certified as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, with a background in sexual trauma, PTSD, and substance use disorders.
