Advocacy + Awareness

Advocacy + Awareness

CFHC advocates on the local, state and federal levels to protect and expand access to quality sexual and reproductive health care for all. CFHC also works to ensure that the promise of health care reform is fully realized for low-income Californians. For the two to four million California residents expected to remain uninsured by 2019, we are committed to maintaining the federal Title X (ten) family planning program and California’s public family planning program Family PACT.

Because sexual and reproductive health are essential components of a healthy society, CFHC disseminates medically-accurate culturally and linguistically appropriate sexual and reproductive health information to allow women, men and teens to make informed decisions and stay safe and healthy.  CFHC also works to link Californians to affordable and responsive health care and coverage options at clinics statewide. Our youth focused website Teensource.org features a clinic finder, youth generated content and information about our Condom Access Project (CAP) – our partnership with the California STD Control Branch. Learn more about our teen outreach programs.

To promote family communication about sexual and reproductive health and decision making, CFHC’s Talk with Your Kids shares tools with parents to help them share their values and medically accurate information with their teens so teens can be armed with the information and confidence they need to prevent unintended pregnancy and STDs.
